Marie Glasby is a new designer, quilter and former Michigander currently living in northern Illinois. Her creative interest with fabric began as a young girl hand sewing outfits for her Barbie dolls. Over the years she has enjoyed a variety of sewing activities including garment making, needlework and fabric crafting. During the past nine years, Marie has immersed herself in quilting and traveled from basic piecing to exploring different techniques and creating her own designs.
Marie credits her daughter with getting her involved in quilting. After spending a week visiting her aunt and making a block of the month, her then teenage daughter came home wanting to make an entire quilt. Marie began her quilting journey as a way to share an activity with her daughter as she left for college. Both Marie and her daughter continue to share their ideas, their joy of quilting, and occasionally their fabric stash.
Marie belongs to both the Northern Lake County Quilters Guild and the Prairie Patch Guild in Illinois. She is also a member of the National Quilting Association (NQA) and the American Quilters Society (AQS).
